The Growing Places Infrastructure Fund was launched by the LEP in March 2012. With an investment pot worth £9.3 million, the fund is a revolving, repayable grant that invests in infrastructure projects.

The SWBGU regularly supports other initiatives that can stimulate growth in our local economy too. For example, the Regional Growth Fund that was awarded to Porton Science Park in 2012, was fully supported by the then LEP. The recent £35 million investment in super fast broadband technology is another example.

We also want to maximise the potential of our military connections, working with them to create growth and helping to bring our military and civilian communities together to stimulate the economy.

A great example of this is the DEFRA investment of £2 million obtained as part of the Rural Growth Network, which will help in the development of military towns, boosting job prospects for ex-service personnel and their partners. The Enterprise Network initiative is establishing a network of enterprise centres, and working with Wiltshire Business Support Service to provide particular support to military leavers, and military spouses and dependants.
