The functions of the Swindon and Wiltshire Enterprise Partnership have been transferred to the local authorities in Swindon and Wiltshire as part of new government policy, effective from 1 April 2024.

This change means that the newly formed Swindon and Wiltshire Business and Growth Unit, a part of Wiltshire Council, is now responsible for economic strategy and government programmes such as the Growth Hub and Careers Hub. Additionally, it ensures that local businesses have a voice in decisions affecting the future of our economy through the Economic Advisory Board. Wiltshire Council and Swindon Borough Council will continue to collaborate to work together to deliver for businesses in Wiltshire and Swindon into the future.

Annual Report 2022/2023

The highlight of the year for SWLEP was the opening of the Business Cyber Centre (BCC) in May 2022. The BCC is a state-of-the-art facility that provides office and event space, as well as cyber-related goods and services to businesses. The project was completed on time and within budget, and has been recognised as the best refurbishment and fit-out in the south-west in the region’s property awards. SWLEP also continued to provide financial support to businesses through the Growing Places Infrastructure Fund (GPIF). During the year, SWLEP made ten loans to the value of £4.58m, leveraging £15.5m. SWLEP also continued to focus on skills development, and was an active participant in the development of the Local Skills Improvement Plan for the area.
