Chippenham Station Ticket Office

The first phase of the refurbishment of Chippenham Station is underway after a new ticket hall and cafe were unveiled. This is part of the initial phase of the project which will also include better security, improved accessibility, improved frontage and more places to store and lock up bicycles.

This phase forms part of a wider scheme to regenerate the station and surrounding area which is funded through the Local Growth Deal which the Swindon & Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership (SWLEP) competitively bid for from Government.

John Mortimer, Chairman of SWLEP, joined guests at the station on 26 June, for the opening of the new facilities. He said:

We have committed to investing £16m in the refurbishment of Chippenham Railway station; which has enabled a potential further £18m of private match funding. This investment will enhance the station facilities and the development of surrounding land for improved car parking, commercial property and residential property.”
